Bovard Field at U.S.C. campus.  Mickey hit two very long home runs off the Trojan's Tom Lovrich, among his longest ever.  Research has found that his right-handed home run, hit to left, was a very high home run according to witness Jim Barrett of Camarillo, CA, landed on the far, left-hand side of the roof of a two story house about 25-28' above the ground.  The near point of the house is 517' from home plate.  From this a close estimate can be made of from 528' - 532' for the landing point on the roof.

Information provided by the National Climatic Data Center indicates that this home run was hit 30 degrees into a 10mph breeze.  His left-handed home run was a rising line drive hit to right-center field, and according to Tom Raich, the center-fielder, landed all the way across a practice football field between the side line and a fence beyond that runs parallel to the field.  The distance of this home run has been given as from 654' to 660' and that the sidelines of this football field were 40'.  The sidelines were much closer to 17' wide and that the distance to the illustrated landing point, 549'-553'.  Jim Barrett also stated that he went to the landing area and someone pointed out to Mr. Barrett where the ball landed.  He recalled that it was somewhere near the 35 yard mark.  If Mr. Barrett's memory is correct, the distance would be about 525'.
